Cebu Paranormal Society’s Pre-Halloween Launch

The nights before All-Saints-Day are usually considered busy nights as people prepare for the annual celebration of the feast. In Cebu, however, a different kind of preparation is underway, especially for the entire Visayas area.

On 28th of October 2006, Visayas marked the launching of the Cebu Paranormal Society (CPS) at Kahayag Cafe with a Psychic Fair. In this fair, practitioners shared their knowledge to others through free lectures, forums and orientation. Guest speakers were of top caliber, namely Professor Dulce Cuna of UP Tacloban and Rene Espinosa of the NGINIIIG Paranormal Investigation Team. Tarot and palm readings were offered to those who joined in.

It was a night of revel, music, and the arts. The venue flooded with alternative music and a number of art and dance performances. A mask contest was also held, dubbed as “Maskerada”, where the person with the most creative mask won a prize from Converse.

Launched for the benefit of interested individuals, the society, together with the pre-Halloween event, opened the doors to magick to the public in the Visayas. Broom closet people can now step out in the open and join an organization where their practices are not abhorred, but instead celebrated. Radical religious thinking is not limited, but instead openly discussed and shared.
